Paradigma Software releases Valentina 18

Features expanded visual reporting and forms toolbox and extended search capabilities for ValentinaDB database.

Paradigma Software launches Valentina Release 18 with advanced reporting and forms tools and powerful full text search capabilities added to its ultra-fast, modern database, ValentinaDB.  All products are immediately available for download from the Paradigma Software website.

ValentinaDB 18

ValentinaDB is the advanced, post‑relational, extensible columnar database system deployed by ISVs, SaaS, cross-platform developers and vertical solution providers for over 20 years, that require an extremely fast data platform.

ValentinaDB 18 introduces advanced full-text search. Using an FTS index, a user can search across one or more fields and produce either a ranked list of the best matches or as a normal SQL filter that keeps only matching rows. Optimally, use the former to show search results and the latter to filter a normal query. FTS can also work across normal ValentinaDB indexes. The FTS query language supports terms, phrases, AND, OR, NOT, required and excluded clauses, parentheses, field selectors, boosts, prefix searches, and wildcards.

ValentinaDB 18 is available in several products. Database ADK (starting at $199.99)  is the database engine that developers can embed into their applications and deploy royalty free. Some versions of Database ADK may also support DuckDB and SQLite. ValentinaDB Server is a part of Valentina Server, available as a single deployment ($299.99) or in the OEM redistribution Valentina Developer Network (starting at $599.99).

Valentina Reports 18

Valentina Reports is your enterprise ready reporting system that can be bundled with local only solutions as well as full network or cloud solutions.

Design and script reports visually in the Valentina Studio Reports Designer. Users can open, run and print reports directly within the free version of Valentina Studio for no cost, free redistribution. Deploy reports with a reporting engine in applications using Valentina Reports ADK or, deploy reports from Valentina Reports Server, one of the 5-in-1 servers in Valentina Server.

  • New Chart.js Reports Control. Based on the popular Chart.js library, this new control includes present charts including Bar, Horizontal Bar, Line, Pie, Doughnut, Radar, Polar Area, Scatter, Bubble, Stacked Bar, Stacked Line, Matrix, and Treemap charts, and includes a long list of preset styles.  Advanced Chart.js options can be provided in JSON format to customize chart appearance and behavior beyond the standard Inspector settings. The original Chart control remains available for compatibility but is deprecated so new reports should use the Chart.js based control.

Valentina Forms 18

Valentina Forms is your solution for building and deploying desktop-based database management systems for custom data-tracking applications with graphical user interfaces. Users can work with Forms projects on Linux, macOS and Windows.

Valentina Forms 18 adds a powerful productivity feature to assist users in building and scripting forms with Valentina Forms AI Chat, in addition to new controls, including a Forms version of the Chart.js control. Forms are built in the Valentina Studio Forms Designer. They are deployed in Valentina Projects, which can be opened locally or from Valentina Forms Server, one of the 5-in-1 servers in Valentina Server.

  • Valentina Forms AI Chat. AI Chat can receive the current form as context and can assist with generating and modifying form code, with form-aware instructions, form-object lookup, SQL data-source guidance, and chart-series helpers.
  • New Chart.js Forms Control. Based on the same popular Chart.js library as the new Valentina Reports control.
  • New ButtonBox Control. Provides a row of standard dialog buttons. ButtonBox manages child button controls, keeps them in a standard order, separated into left and right groups by flexible space.
  • New ScrollArea Control. Provides a scrollable area for child content that is larger than the available display area.
  • New ProgressBar Control. Displays the completion of an operation as a value within a defined range.
  • New Spinner Control. Displays an animated progress indicator for when completion  of an operation cannot be measured.
  • CodeEdit Control. Provides a multi-line code editor with syntax highlighting and code completion. Use CodeEdit to display or edit SQL, JavaScript, Python, or other source text.

The former BoxLayout control is now two separate layout controls for productivity: ColumnLayout that arranges child controls and layouts vertically, and  RowLayout that arranges child controls and layouts horizontally.

Valentina Forms 18 is available in Valentina Studio PRO ($199.99)  for designing Valentina Forms within Valentina Projects. Valentina Projects can be redistributed for free and used with the free version of Valentina Studio on Linux, macOS and Windows. Forms Server is a part of Valentina Server, available as a single deployment ($299.99) or in the OEM redistribution Valentina Developer Network (starting at $599.99).

Valentina Studio 18

Valentina Studio is the popular, free database and data source management suite of tools from Paradigma Software. Valentina Studio PRO adds advanced features to the Studio toolbox, including Report Designer and Forms Designer. In addition to a fresh appearance makeover and native UI integration improvements, Valentina Studio 18 adds new features:

  • Enhanced Query Editor. Now supports visual nested queries and SQL set operations. Nested queries are represented by movable and resizable Query cards.
  • Enhanced Data Editor. Now with multi-column sorting. Sort in a column context menu to build the sort order and display next to each column's sort indicator. New display options sub-menus.
  • Enhanced Schema Editor. Added support for creating and editing full-text indexes with ValentinaDB.
  • Enhanced Preferences. A new search field for quickly locating preference options. New options for showing or hiding the menu bar, toolbar, status bar, and individual main-toolbar buttons.
  • Improved Scripting. Scripting (Python, JavaScript, SQL) is rewritten for context-aware code auto-completion.
  • Improved Start Page. Along with the fresh appearance makeover and native UI integration improvements, added separate local and server project lists and an opened-connections panel for servers.
  • Improved Valentina Reports Designer. Adds new supporting features related to the new Chart.js control in Valentina Release 18. Improved arrow key object movement for adjusting placement of selected controls.
  • Improved Valentina Forms Designer. Adds new supporting features for Valentina Forms AI Chat and the six new Forms controls in Valentina Release 18.
  • Improved AI Chat Settings. Added favorite-model selection so each AI provider can show a focused model list.

Valentina Server 18

Valentina Server is a 5-in-1 solution that includes Valentina Reports Server and Valentina Forms Server, as well as three internal database servers: ValentinaDB Server, Valentina DuckDB Server and Valentina SQLite Server. Valentina Reports Server and Valentina Forms Server work with all major data sources, such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server and others, as well as the internal database servers. Valentina Server is available as a standalone, single deployment solution, or as a developer OEM solution that allows developers to redeploy unlimited copies of Valentina Server to their customers.

  • First-install administrator credential security setup.  This improves administrator credential and user-management security, with first-install credential handling for Linux, macOS, and Windows installers, as well as Linux Docker startup.
