Valentina Release 17.3 improves DuckDB, ODBC support

Performance improvements for ValentinaDB, localization for Japanese and Italian.

Paradigma Software announces the immediate availability of Valentina Release 17.3. This release includes improvements across all products, including performance improvements in Paradigma Software's ValentinaDB.

ValentinaDB Update 17.3

ValentinaDB is Paradigma Software advanced, object relational database and available in ValentinaDB Server (a part of Valentina Server) and ValentinaDB ADKs (developer components for adding runtime database support to applications). What's new:

  • [New][Algs][ARM] - Valentina DB starting with v17.3 utilizes SIMD CPU vectorization. Currently applied in several core components, such as fbl::ArraySet and BitSet classes. Supported data types include Int8, Int16, and Int32. Supported on ARM platforms across macOS, Windows, and Linux.
  • [Opt][Algs] Optimized search algorithms for non-indexed numeric fields.
  • [Opt][Algs] Optimized sorting algorithms for non-indexed numeric fields.
  • [Opt][Algs] Improved loading performance of numeric fields in Valentina tables.

Intel CPU vectorization support is under development. Expected in the next 17.3.1 release. These performance improvements affect both SQL execution and API usage in Valentina ADKs. On the API level, this impacts methods such as FindValue(), FindRange(), etc. Speedups for non-indexed fields significantly improve performance in OLAP workloads.

Valentina Studio 17.3

Valentina Studio is the free, all purpose database management tool suite. Valentina Studio PRO adds more powerful diagramming features, more powerful visual builder tools for databases, forms creation, reports designer and more. Studio 17 and Studio PRO 17 adds several new and useful features, including:

Valentina Studio 17.3 for Windows, macOS and Linux is licensed but free. Valentina Studio Pro is $199 per OS license and includes 12 months of free updates. Valentina Studio UNIVERSAL 17.3 is a single license that works on all three operating systems and licensed on a user basis.

ValentinaC++ ADK

Valentina Database and Reports ADKs are available for C++ development as standalone solutions for developers, and include a free CLIENT component for native integration with Valentina Server. Improvements include:

  • [New][DuckDB] – Added support for the VARIANT field type. VARIANT values are represented as appropriate I_Value objects

Valentina ADKs are connectivity solutions for developers.
