Also adds improvements to Workspaces, Valentina Forms and more.
Paradigma Software releases Valentina Release 18.3 with new features for the Valentina Platform, expanding its high-speed database management, AI-assisted form design, and reporting solutions across desktop, network, and cloud systems. This release follows a major update to the Valentina Platform with Release 18.
Valentina Studio
Valentina Studio is the popular, free database and data source management suite of tools from Paradigma Software. Valentina Studio PRO adds advanced features to the Studio toolbox, including Report Designer and Forms Designer. Valentina Forms is your solution for building and deploying desktop-based database management systems for custom data-tracking applications with graphical user interfaces with free, royalty free local and server based deployment. Users can work with Forms projects on Linux, macOS and Windows. This release includes:
- [New][AI] Added GitHub Copilot and OpenAI Codex as an AI providers. Sign in with your account; no API key is required. Copilot and Codex include model-list refresh and favorite-model selection. Added CLI Settings for installing, reinstalling, and removing Copilot and Codex runtimes, with download progress and cancellation. Downloads continue when Settings is closed. Added tooltips for provider settings and chat controls and clarified account sign-in guidance.
- [New][Forms] Added TableView.cellText(row, column) to read a cell's displayed text. Row and model-column indexes start at zero; unavailable cells return an empty string.
- [Imp][SQL Editor] The Cancel button now interrupts running ValentinaDB, SQLite, and DuckDB queries in local and Valentina Server sessions.
- [Imp][Workspaces] Studio now shows its main window while restoring saved tabs and displays progress for slower restorations.
- [Imp][Localization] Updated translations and clarified UI terminology.
Valentina Studio is free. Valentina Studio PRO costs $199. Available on Linux, macOS and Windows. See the full announcement for other changes, fixes and more.
Valentina Server
Valentina Server is a 5-in-1 solution that includes Valentina Reports Server and Valentina Forms Server, as well as three internal database servers: ValentinaDB Server, Valentina DuckDB Server and Valentina SQLite Server. Valentina Reports Server and Valentina Forms Server work with all major data sources, such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server and others, as well as the internal database servers. Valentina Server is available as a standalone, single deployment solution, or as a developer OEM solution that allows developers to redeploy unlimited copies of Valentina Server to their customers.
- [New][Query cancellation] Added cancellation of running ValentinaDB, SQLite, and DuckDB queries from Studio and VCLI, including SSL/TLS connections.
- [Imp][Connections] Connections opened by
vcliandvdumpnow identify the tool name.
Valentina Server is available in a free evaluation version, a single deployment version (starting at $299.99) and through the OEM developer program Valentina Developer Network (starting at $599.99). Available on Linux, macOS and Windows.
ValentinaDB
ValentinaDB is the advanced, post‑relational, extensible columnar database system deployed by ISVs, SaaS, cross-platform developers and vertical solution providers for over 25 years, that require an extremely fast data platform. ValentinaDB 18 introduced powerful, elastic-search-like full-text search as well as other improvements. This update includes:
- [New][SQL] Added query cancellation for ValentinaDB queries in Valentina Studio and
vcli. Cancelling a query does not automatically roll back changes already made.
ValentinaDB is available in several products. Database ADK (starting at $199.99) is the database engine that developers can embed into their applications and deploy royalty free and available for all major development environments including: C, C++, Objective-C, .net (C#), Java, Python, Ruby and others. Some versions of Database ADK may also support DuckDB and SQLite. ValentinaDB Server is a part of Valentina Server, available as a single deployment ($299.99) or in the OEM redistribution Valentina Developer Network (starting at $599.99).
Valentina Command Line Interface
Valentina CLI support is automatically installed along with Valentina Studio and Valentina Server. Improvements include:
- [New] Ctrl-C now cancels running ValentinaDB, SQLite, and DuckDB queries in local and Valentina Server sessions, including queries supplied with –command, –file, or standard input. Remote cancellation requires Valentina Server 18.3 or later.
- [Imp][Interactive mode] Ctrl-C now clears SQL being edited, including unfinished multiline statements. After cancelling a running query, you can continue using the same session.
All products are immediately available for download from the Paradigma Software website.
